Fasiledes Comprehensive Secondary School

One of the key ongoing projects this school year is the transformation of Fasiledes Comprehensive Secondary School in Gondar, a long-awaited initiative that began five years ago. Initially funded by the diaspora, the project stalled during the pandemic due to lack of funds. However, a major breakthrough came a few months ago when a fundraising event in Addis Ababa, initiated by Melaku Albel, raised 73 million birr, reigniting the project. Construction has rapidly progressed, with the structure now reaching the second floor and set to be completed by next month. The new school building will house 35 classrooms, including specialized rooms for Information Technology training. The project is led by Abay Zeleke, with architectural design by his son, Yeshak Abay, and the support of 11 to 16 dedicated volunteers from the University of Gondar, alongside local residents and teachers.
